The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is a professional association comprised of women working in construction related industries. NAWIC was founded in Fort Worth, Texas in 1955 by 16 women working in the construction industry.
Since 1996, NAWIC has grown internationally, with the signing of International Affiliation agreements with NAWIC-Australia, CAWIC – Canada, NAWIC-New Zealand, with SAWIC - South African Women in Construction, and most recently with NAWIC-United Kingdom.
Today, almost 5,800 women in almost 200 chapters across the United States are NAWIC members. You can become a chapter member by completing an application, attending a meeting, or visiting www.nawic.org.
For almost 55 years, NAWIC has helped women take advantage of opportunities in construction. Whether you want to embark on a new career, establish a networking base, be a mentor, make a difference in your community, continue your education, or invest in great friendships, NAWIC offers a variety of opportunities.
Cleveland Chapter #156 was founded in 1968 and is made up of business owners, project managers and engineers, architects, attorneys, accountants, estimators, marketing professionals, office managers, safety coordinators, sales reps, construction managers, administrative assistants, tradeswomen, etc.
Our 110 members usually meet on the first Thursday of each month at various locations for networking, speakers, tours and industry related programs. Our exciting NAWIC programs gives members opportunities to interact with many construction industry professionals and to discover how becoming a member can be your pathway to your personal growth and professional success. Our members can expect value from their investment, affording them many professional, educational, and business opportunities.

NAWIC Objectives:
- To unite for their mutual benefit women who are actively employed in the various phases of the construction industry

- To provide members an awareness of the legislative process and legislation as it relates to the construction industry.
